Giving Tuesday Now: Support the Nonprofits that Serve Our Community

By May 5, 2020October 27th, 2020Highland Highlights

On Giving Tuesday Now, join us in supporting organizations that work to enhance our community—from those that are providing crucial services during this pandemic, to those that we will look to when life returns to normal.

Here are some of the local nonprofits that Highland supports through our charitable giving initiatives. Operating across a number of issue areas, together, these organizations are improving lives in the Dallas community—and beyond.

Join us in supporting:

  • Cultural and civic institutions like The Bush Center, The Perot Museum, The Dallas Zoo, and Dallas Summer Musicals, that are staying engaged with the community even while their doors are closed. While these organizations adjusted quickly, finding ways to carry out their missions despite the challenges from COVID-19, we will look to them even more when we begin to return to normalcy.
  • Nonprofits like Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center and The Family Place, which are providing critical services for victims of domestic abuse. Employees at these nonprofits are making sacrifices during this time to ensure their organizations continue to protect families, provide shelter for women and children, and deliver essential care for those in crisis.
  • Organizations that are advancing education across the spectrum like United to Learn which is supplying families, educators, and students with essential tools to support at-home learning and meal service for students in need; Cristo Rey Dallas which remains committed to providing high school students with a college prep curriculum using online resources; and Southern Methodist University (SMU), which continues to support students, transitioning to virtual classes, continuing to convene meetings for campus organizations remotely, and offering a range of resources and programming that students can access safely from their homes.
  • Groups like the Friends of the Dallas Police that bring together resources and support to help show our first responders how grateful we are for their service and protection.

This Giving Tuesday Now, organizations are asking for support so they may continue to serve the Dallas community not only in these uncertain times, but also when the threats of the pandemic begin to subside.
